Game Day Party

Game Day Party

Getting geared up for the big game takes careful planning.  Any serious party-planner knows that once the pre-game shows begin and your guests begin to gather around the wide-screen TV, there’s no down-over if you forget the paper plates or snacks. To help you perfect your party this year, here’s our short list of tips:

Food in Phases:  When planning for game day, you’ll want to make sure that you have a menu that keeps the party going from the moment people arrive until the final whistle blows. When you first arrive, it's a good idea to quickly break out the snacks and pre-prepped food.  While folks are munching on the chipsbeef jerky, or deviled eggs, you can be warming up the chili, sausages, and baked beans.  After the game, keep things simple and maybe think about serving up some sweet treats like brownies and cookies along with some replenishing beverages like iced tea or Gatorade.

Food Serving and Storage:  Serving up a masterpiece meal without the proper tableware can quickly turn into a tailgate fiasco.  Be sure to pack up plenty of disposable platesbowlscutlerydrinking cupsnapkins, and paper towels.  Also, it is always a good idea to have some food storage containers on hand to keep things neat and organized.  Speaking of keeping things neat, don't forget the trash bags to make cleaning up a breeze after the party.

Menu Twists: While cruising around the tailgate parking lots this season, we’ve seen quite a few creative dishes that are fun, tasty, and convenient.  Here are a couple of favorites that come to mind:

BBQ Sunday: In a clear plastic parfait cup, add a layer of baked beanscornbread, pulled pork, coleslaw, and then top it off with a sweet and spicy cherry tomato.  It looks like an ice cream Sunday but is really a BBQ meal in a handy cup.

Pudding Cup Mix-In Bar: So easy and so fun, just pile up a stack of ready-to-eat pudding cups next to your own buffet of mix-ins like crushed Oreo cookiescoconut flakeschocolate chips, or yogurt-covered raisins.

Enjoy the game!
